Open Mind often receives questions about mental health facilities in the St. Louis area.  Below are two descriptions of local mental health facilities.

Christian Hospital’s North County Recovery Center has recently moved its outpatient mental health services to a new location. These services are now located just two miles north of Christian Hospital at 12434 Lusher Road. The North County Recovery Center has been part of Christian Hospital for over 20 years, providing superior mental health services to the community. This location offers outpatient and partial hospitalization treatment for people experiencing mental health or chemical dependency issues. These outpatient services are also offered at the South County Recovery Center located on 11200 Tesson Ferry Road. Both programs also provide outpatient detoxification for opioid addiction. Inpatient mental health services are located at Christian Hospital Northeast. Because older adults are experiencing multiple life-changing events, they have special needs and are at greater risk of experiencing depression, dementia, anxiety disorders and other mental disorders later in life. Our geriatric unit provides quality care to older adults by focusing on their special physical, emotional and social stressors. The adult unit also provides treatment for all psychiatric disorders to help adults develop coping skills and tools to lead healthy and productive lives. This includes the STEPS program, which is the only one of its kind in the area and is dedicated to the treatment of those with schizophrenia. Christian Hospital’s Center for Mental Health and the Recovery Centers are committed to providing outstanding services for people with mental illness and chemical dependency. If you think that you or your loved one needs help, you can schedule an appointment for an evaluation by calling 314-839-3171 or 800-447-4301. There is no charge for the evaluation.

Many individuals experience psychiatric, behavioral or addictive disorders at some time in their lives, with symptoms that can make the tasks of daily living feel overwhelming and unmanageable. St. Anthony’s Hyland Behavioral Health offers a full-range of treatment programs to help those with mental illness and/or chemical dependency issues learn to cope with their disorders and regain good mental health. Like most illnesses, psychiatric and chemical dependency disorders have varying levels of severity. Treatment at St. Anthony’s Hyland Behavioral Health is designed to accommodate the continually changing needs of our patients. Our specially trained staff addresses the level of severity of the disorder and supports each individual patient’s progress. Our treatment programs include inpatient care; partial hospitalization (a day-hospital program); outpatient care (a treatment program the patient attends for several hours each week); and a Counseling Clinic, where counselors meet with clients on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. The first step to receiving care is an evaluation to determine the nature and severity of the disorder. Our professional staff will conduct a confidential assessment to determine the level of treatment needed. Staff members are available 24 hours a day to provide confidential information on treatment services. They also will help clients evaluate a psychiatric, behavioral or chemical dependency disorder and will assist with admission to an appropriate treatment program. For confidential and professional help, call 314-525-4400 or toll-free at 1-800-525-2032.
