Hawthorn Children's
Psychiatric Hospital

 

 

Located at 1901 Pennsylvania Avenue in St. Louis County on a 26-acre campus, Hawthorn is a children's psychiatric hospital that is owned and operated by the Missouri Department of Mental Health. It is the only free-standing children's psychiatric hospital in Missouri and has a service territory encompassing the eastern third of the state. Rehabilitation Center

St. Louis Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (SLPRC, formerly St. Louis State Hospital) is a JCAHO accredited, 212-bed psychiatric hospital which is operated by the Missouri Department of Mental Health. In addition, SLPRC is certified to provide Medicare/ Medicaid services by the Health Care Financing Administration.

SLPRC provides high quality intermediate and long-term inpatient psychiatric and psychosocial rehabilitation services to adults with severe, persistent mental illnesses. BJC Behavioral Health

  BJC Behavioral Health provides and coordinates behavioral health services for Missouri citizens in St. Louis city; and in St. Louis, St. Francois, Iron and Washington counties. Services are provided through private contracts and health plans. Independence Center   Independence Center serves people with chronic mental illness. Founded in 1980 by parents and friends of adults with mental illnesses, Independence Center (IC) created its network of programs and services using the values and principles of the Clubhouse model of psychosocial rehabilitation.

The Clubhouse is the connecting core of our service array. It links all of the services and opportunities that IC has created to improve the lives of people with mental illnesses. Dialogue for Recovery: A program of the National Mental Health Assn.   Dialogue for Recovery is a new NMHA program, aimed at enhancing communication between doctors and patients about treatment goals, medication side-effects and other quality of life issues affecting the recovery of individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness.

National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse

NCADA offers a variety of services for the problem drinker, drug abuser, parents or family members. The Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation (OCF) is an international not-for-profit organization composed of people with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders, their families, friends, professionals and other concerned individuals. Social Phobics Anonymous

  Social Phobics Anonymous (SPA) provides free 12 Step support groups for people who suffer from Social Phobia or Social Anxiety Disorder or Shyness Problems or Avoidant Personality Disorder (APD) or Paruresis. This website provides information on how to join face-to-face support groups or telephone support groups.
     
U Penn Collaborative on Community Integration   Research has shown that mothers with a serious mental illness were almost three times more likely than mothers without a serious mental illness to have been involved in the child welfare system or to have lost custody of their children.  This Guide was developed by the UPenn Collaborative as a comprehensive resource to help parents, providers, and advocates find information about possible programs in their area; it will be continually updated as more programs are identified. Since 1994, the City of St. Louis Mental Health Board of Trustees (MHB) has been a significant resource for meeting the mental health/substance abuse prevention and treatment needs of St. Louisans by distributing to local service agencies grants funded by city tax dollars. Local funding pays for programs designed specifically for our community, rather than adapted from one-size-fits all state or federal approaches. Missouri Department of Mental Health   The Missouri Department of Mental Health serves more than 100,000 Missourians through programs that recognize the dignity of the individual, their families, and their communities, and is dedicated to combating stigma associated with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance addiction.
       
National Institute On Drug Abuse   NIDA's mission is to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction.  This charge has two critical components.  The first is the strategic support and conduct of research across a broad range of disciplines.  The second is ensuring the rapid and effective dissemination and use of the results of that research to significantly improve prevention, treatment and policy as it relates to drug abuse and addiction.

  The Outreach Partnership Program is a nationwide initiative of the NIMH with support from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and in cooperation with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).  The Program strives to increase public awareness about the importance of basic and clinical research in improving treatments for—and ultimately curing and preventing—mental illnesses and addiction disorders through advancing knowledge about the brain and behavior.

Children and Family Services Authority of St. Charles County

 
The Children and Family Services Authority is the administrator for the Community Children’s Services Fund, a fund created when St. Charles County passed a 1/8-cent sales tax measure in November 2004. Pathways to Promise   Pathways to Promise is an interfaith technical assistance and resource center which offers liturgical and educational materials, program models, and networking information to promote a caring ministry with people with mental illness and their families.  RAVEN works to motivate peer pressure among men to end men’s violence against women and children. Epworth Children and Family Services

 

Epworth provides special education services for adolescents, ages 7 to 21, who have been diagnosed with severe learning disabilities, emotional disorders and/or behavioral disorders through the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process. Epworth's progressive school program integrates intensive therapy services with academic studies, vocational training, small classes, and life skills development to prevent educational failure, help adolescents successfully return to their community schools whenever possible, earn high school credits, and graduate from high school or complete their General Education Degree (GED).
